Well, as today marks the 1 month point before we head off on our long term travels around the world it is time to get serious about what we intend to take! We have been doing a lot of research, buying and collecting things here and there in the search to get the right balance between being prepared and getting stuck carrying around a backpack that is way too heavy…so here is our list! Feel free to comment with any further tips on what we should add or leave out!
Firstly, Backpacks!
We did a lot of research and asked around, did a few trials runs and decided on: Osprey Farpoint 70l.
This is a kind of mid-sized bag as the total capacity included the 20l day pack in 70l. It has some great features on there including the integration of the day pack, different back sizes available and the ability to cover the main straps for when the bag goes in the hold and clips to carry your/ or another day pack in front of you. We feel these are the best backpacks for travel all round!
It is also quite reasonably priced at around the £100-120 mark.

Decathlon for cheap and quick drying T-shirts and pants
Your stuff is going to get ruined anyway and outdoor places like Decathlon offer
the same stuff but so much cheaper. We picked up quick drying t-shirts for a few pounds each.
They are great for keeping cool and easy to wash on the go, and really light too. Stay away from the cotton stuff as it is heavy and hard to dry!
