Penang is known for its amazing street art, not just graffiti or tags which are a subject that causes much debate. But here there are lovingly created paintings that use their canvas as inspiration and embedding the amazingly crumbling texture of this historic island into the narrative of the works. Here they all tell a story of local life, people and culture on the very walls that these tales take place. It’s almost as if real life has been frozen in time on these walls that have seen so much of it, like a photography etched into the very place it was taken. There is a real beauty to in the interactive nature of the work. How you can step into the story as you do when you explore the historic streets of Georgetown. Here is a look at some of our favourite Penang Street Art!

Where to find the Penang Street Art!
The best way of course is to just explore and be as excited as we were to discover the amazing works around every corner. However most of the artwork is around the areas of Penang’s city centre, along roads like Muntri Street, Weld Quay, Lebuh Leith, Armenian Street, Ah Quee Street and more.
