We are constantly trying to fly the flag for hostels here at The Roaming Renegades, attempting to dispel the myth that they are all filthy pits filled with drunken backpackers! We often go in search of the best, most modern and innovative boutique hostels that prove they can be the perfect places to stay, offering a great social environment, creative design features and at a fraction of the price of some soulless hotel! At Baan Khun Nine we found the perfect hostel to prove the doubters wrong!
Redefining the standards of the hostel
When people imagine a hostel, especially in Bangkok, they picture scruffy and tightly packed dorm rooms, no personal space or privacy and sharing it all with loud and drunk backpackers. Of course, those places do still exist and are quite easy to avoid as well as being great at keeping the drunken morons away from the other amazing hostels out there.
We have in-fact had the some of the most memorable travelling experiences in hostels, meeting people who have become friends for life, having opportunities to visit places we could never have and discovering the most amazing places through the people we met. Hostels unlike hotels breed and encourage a social atmosphere, but many of the new ones also build in elements such as the capsule style beds that allow a level of privacy that really allows you to escape whilst still staying within a dorm.
A truly boutique experience
At Baan Khun Nine they take design seriously and have worked hard to create a peaceful, relaxing and inviting atmosphere here. No longer are hostels scruffy graffiti covered dumps, but well thought out, creative and unique environments in which to discover local culture, relax and socialise.
Baan Kkun Nine has really put that extra effort into adding those extra touches that really make a place feel special. Your surrounding can really effect the way you feel and the experience you have of a city and at BHK they really take that into consideration. The bathrooms for example are some of the most stunning I have ever seen, hotel or hostel, they are clean, comfortable and designed like a Siamese palace rather than being squeezed into a dirty cupboard at the end of the corridor!
A welcome escape from the chaos of Bangkok
Another nice feature of Bahn Khun Nine is the location. Being over the other side of the Chao Phraya river it provides easy access on the bus or river boat over to the old town of Bangkok and yet retains a local charm. The area encourages those who want to soak in culture and take a more refined look at Bangkok rather than the party animals of Khao San Road who seem only interested in drink!
Across this side of the river you can indulge in much more local culture and explore where the real people of Bangkok live, work and eat. For us, especially after seeing all of the “Sights” in Bangkok, is the most important element of travel for us and in large cities it can almost feel impossible. Here in this unique position so close to all the highlights of Bangkok and yet embedded within local culture you really get the best of both worlds. And if you wish, you can easily escape the chaotic nature of Bangkok too… or hop on a bus and indulge in it!
